Importance of the simple things

Basis Yorkshire was able to provide practical support to sustain and improve the living situations of vulnerable women (former street or indoors sex workers) on the street or part of the hidden homeless – sofa surfing without access to safe housing or unable to escape coercive and/or violent relationships.

Funding helped make dealing with the reality of some of the women’s situations invaluable – helping provide clean underwear in a size that fitted, books or a TV and licence to improve feelings of isolation, helping someone remain in hospital, transport costs to critical assessment or provision of a 2nd phone with password to help a victim of domestic violence.
